The Biometric Center of Excellence (BCOE) will continue to add resources such as reports and presentations to this site, and will eventually provide a collaboration tool for registered users.
The BCOE is pleased to share the results of an independent assessment of biometric technology completed in June 2008 by the MITRE Corporation. This technology assessment is a critical component of a comprehensive study entitled the State-of-the-Art Biometrics Excellence Roadmap (SABER). It gauges the technical maturity of biometric modalities and evaluates the potential for expanding the FBI’s Certified Products List as these modalities mature.
This BCOE briefing was presented at this year’s Biometric Consortium by Johnna Hoban, the BCOE Program Manager. The brief provides an overview of what the BCOE is and what it will do for the biometrics community. It highlights the FBI’s gold standard in biometrics, exemplified by the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS), the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), and the Next Generation Identification (NGI), and introduces the BCOE and its ambitious goals for the coming years.
The products listed at this link are certified by the FBI as having been tested and found to be in compliance with the FBI's IAFIS Image Quality Specifications (IQS).
